Cancellation Policy
Summary of our cancellation policy
By Justin Winn | 11/19/2024
We do our best to always maintain scheduled dates. Please note that dates may change based on facility/field status, extreme weather/smoke, or other unforeseen circumstances that are beyond our control. We do not own the facilities we use for our leagues, so changes to the schedule may happen (although rarely).
In the event of an unplanned date change or cancellation, registered participants will be notified via email.
We will always attempt to make up any dates that are cancelled. However, there is no guarantee we will able to make up cancelled dates due to facility ability.
Please note - Cancellations may not be announced until 8 am on the morning of scheduled practices/games due to the quickly changing conditions.
Weather:
Inclement weather will be watched closely. Our #1 priority is safety for all of our families traveling to games and players playing on the field. In the event of extremely heavy rain, high winds, heavy snow, ice, and/or thunderstorms - games may be cancelled in advance. However, light/moderate rain does not warrant a cancellation. Field and facility conditions will always be checked for safety hazards before play in instances of extreme weather conditions.
Air Quality and Smoke:
Please remember that children are particularly sensitive to smoke because their respiratory systems are still developing.
AQI and smoke conditions can change rapidly. Our primary assessment of AQI is the most current air quality index as reported by he Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Air Quality Index (AQI) – 8th and Emerson station in Bend. This station is closest Pilot Butte Middle School and is updated hourly. We will also monitor conditions via other applications such as Watch Duty and IQ Air to triangulate the latest AQI information around the field(s) we are playing at. Note that AQI information is not consistent across all platforms and locations. We will make our best and most reasonable assessment based on the latest information available.
Parents: Please watch the AQI and decide when to limit your child’s activities.
N Zone Sports will make the following modifications to our outdoor programs when conditions are in the following AQI ranges:
- AQI 50-100: Outdoor activities will continue. Activities can be modified as needed to include decreased intensity and more frequent breaks.
- AQI 101-150: Outdoor activities will continue. Activities will be modified to include decreased intensity and more frequent rest periods.
- AQI 151 or higher: Outdoor activities will be cancelled.
